SRINAGAR, Nov 16: Militants this evening shot dead one Ghulam Mohidin Dar at Dogripora, Awantipora in South Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Superintendent of Police Awantipora, Tahir Salim told Excelsior that militants this evening fired at Dar. He was removed to hospital and later shifted to SMHS Hospital in critical condition. Doctors declared him brought dead.
Sources said that he had recieved several bullets in chest, abdomen and lower limbs. The militants fled after carrying out the attack.
Police, CRPF and Army personnel immediately rushed to the area and massive hunt was launched for militants responsible for the attack.
Dar’s brother, Mohammad Shaban Dar, who was a Sarpanch and a PDP worker, was killed early this year ahead of Parliamentary elections.
This is first political killing in Kashmir valley ahead of Assembly elections.
Pulwama is voting in third phase of 5 phase polling next month.
