JAMMU, Nov 11: All public sector bank employees including officers held massive protest demonstration at Shalamar Chowk here today and called for complete strike tomorrow.
The bank employees under the banner of Jammu Province Bank Employees Federation assembled at Shalamar Chowk here this evening and started protest demonstration in support of their demands.
General secretary of the Federation Arun Gupta addressed the gathering in the first instance and apprised the employees that on November 10, 2014 conciliation meeting held by Chief Labour Commissioner Ministry of Labour was found to be futile. He said bipartite talks also took place on Monday with IBA and during discussion IBA continued with its plea that in the context of reducing profits of the banks, it would be difficult for them to accept demands.
The UFBU members contested and reiterated that their demands were justified and reasonable. Even federation members were flexible and amicable settlement could have reached but due to adamant and rigid stance of the IBA the desired results could not be witnessed. The UFBU even indicated its willingness to revise its demand to 23% keeping in mind the need to find an amicable solution. The IBA has shown indifferent attitude compelling the employees to intensify agitation.
Another AIBOA leader Ashwani Pardhan addressed the banking employees and condemned the callous attitude of the IBA for rejecting legitimate demands of the employees. He said the IBA only appealed for deferment of agitation without going for resolution of the issue. The speakers asked members to make November 12 strike successful. Vijay Zutshi, Ganesh Kumar, R K Mamba and Anil Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
