College teachers apprise Minister of their demands

JAMMU, Oct 20:  A delegation of College Teachers Association, led by the president Jammu wing Dr  Sanjay Verma, called on Minister of Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone and discussed with him various issues facing the college teaching  community.
The demand concerning anomalies in SRO-124 was highlighted and discussed in detail by the Association, which stressed that the teaching fraternity is being highly affected vis-à-vis the implementation of  this SRO in the present form, as it is very difficult for many teachers, to fulfill the conditions as laid down in SRO-124.
Minister gave a patient hearing and agreed in principle that the matter would  be looked into positively.
CTA also raised the demand of issuance of order of placement of teachers in different higher grade and stressed the need to expedite the same.  The other demands, highlighted by the CTA, included  enhancing of the age of superannuation at par with university teachers, creation of post of professor in colleges, extending the benefit of SRO-222 to the college teachers, changing the nomenclature of PTI in colleges as per UGC norms, etc.
The delegation included Prof M S Saini, Dr  Satinder Kour, Prof D S Manhas, Dr Anil Ganjoo, Prof Narayan Dutt, Prof HansRaj, Prof Surender and Prof Vishal Sharma.
