6-vehicles seized for illegal mining

SRINAGAR, June 4: The police today seized six vehicles involved in illegal mining activities in separate operations and initiated legal action against those involved in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A Police spokesperson said a police team from Police Station, Bijbehara intercepted and seized two tippers carrying sand extracted illegally. “A case under FIR No. 146/2026 has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up,” he said.
In another operation, a police team from Police Post DK Pora seized three tractors loaded with illegally extracted nallah bajri during patrolling at Khoshipora, the spokesperson said, adding that legal proceedings have been initiated in the matter.
The spokesperson further said that during patrolling at Brinty Batpora, police seized a tractor without a registration number that was loaded with illegally extracted boulders. “Appropriate legal action has also been initiated in the case,” he said.
