JAMMU, June 4: Panic gripped Mubarak Mandi area here after one of the walls of the historic Gadadhar temple reportedly collapsed due to some excavation works undertaken by the Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) as part of the ongoing restoration of the Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex.
Fortunately, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
A police official said the incident happened between 4:30-5 PM when people were returning home after a community kitchen at the historic temple.
“At the time of the incident, there was no devotee inside the temple premises,” he said.
According to him, the temple wall collapsed after some cracks were developed in it due to some excavation works undertaken by the JSCL as part of the restoration of the Mubarak Mandi Palace Complex.
The Gadadhar temple is situated just outside the Mubarak Mandi complex. It houses two life size statues of Shri Gadadhar Ji and Devi Lakshmi ji. The temple was built by the Dogra kings during the 18th century.
