RAJOURI, June 3: The police seized two vehicles loaded with 22 bovine animals and foiled bovines smuggling attempts in Rajpura Bhatta and Thalka area of Nowshera sector last night.
Official sources said that police teams during checking found two vehicles involved in the illegal transportation of bovine animals. On noticing the police presence, the drivers abandoned their vehicles and escaped taking cover of darkness.
Total of 22 bovine animals were rescued from the two vehicles. The animals were found tied in a cruel and inhumane manner. They were being transported without the requisite permission.
In this connection, FIR No. 101/2026 and FIR No. 102/2026 have been registered at Police Station Nowshera under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the accused persons involved in the smuggling attempt.
