*Demands political reservation

JAMMU, June 3: The United Forum of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) Organisstions have decided to hold massive protest near Press Club of Jammu on June 5.
A joint executive body meeting of All J&K OBC Mahasabha, All India Backward Classes Fedration JK-Unit, All J&K OBC Welfare Forum Srinagar, Backward Classes Union Rajouri-Poonch and the heads of different OBC communities under the banner of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra, was held here today wherein it was resolved to stage massive joint protest in Jammu at 11 am on coming Friday (June 5) at Press Club Jammu.
Heads of various organizations including Kasturi Lal Basotra, Faquir Chand Satia, Bansi Lal Choudhary, Kewal Fotra and many others will be leading the protest.
Speaking on the occasion Kewal Fotra, president All J&K Sain Samaj said it is a matter of injustice with OBC’s that in the first phase of house demarcation of Census have no separate column for OBC’s like Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe as it has been placed in other categories. It means no separate allocation of funds can be made in Budget for the development of OBCs. It should be rectified.
Raj Kumar Chalotra, president, Pardesh Vishwkarma Sabha disclosed that the Body of J&K Advisory Board for the development of OBCs and the body of Jammu & Kashmir Socially & Educationally Backward Classes Commission-2020 has not been constituted by J&K Govt due to which JK-UT OBC masses are facing discrimination in every sphere.
They said since independence OBC masses have no representation in the State Assembly despite having big chunk of OBC population. The political reservation for OBC’s is the need of the hour. They further said that the election of Panchayats and Municipal bodies may be held after the completion of National Caste Census. Mohd Shabir and Ghulam Hassan also spoke on the occasion.
