Woman duped of 10 tola gold by ‘spiritual healer’

POONCH, June 2: A case of alleged cheating and fraud has been reported from Danar area of Surankote, where a woman was reportedly deceived by an individual posing as a spiritual healer (Peer) and was deprived of gold ornaments weighing approximately 10 tolas.
As per a complaint lodged with the police, Miser Begum, wife of Shoket Amin, a resident of Danar village, was approached by a person claiming to possess spiritual powers and the ability to cure personal and family problems through religious rituals.
The alleged fraudster reportedly persuaded the family to bring their gold ornaments, claiming that the valuables were required for a special spiritual treatment. Taking advantage of their trust and innocence, the accused allegedly replaced the original gold ornaments with fake items and fled from the spot.
Upon realizing the deception, the victim approached Police Station Surankote and registered a formal complaint seeking legal action against the accused.
Police have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated necessary proceedings. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the alleged fraudster. The police has advised people to remain vigilant from such fraudsters.
