15 vehicles seized for illegal mining

SRINAGAR, June 2: The police today seized 15 vehicles and machines and registered six FIRs during a crackdown on illegal mining in Shopian and Pulwama districts.
In Shopian, a Police spokesperson said, police teams from Police Station Shopian and Police Post Keegam seized six tractors and two tippers allegedly involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Rambiara Nallah and Hermain without valid royalty documents. “Police registered FIR Nos. 100/2026, 102/2026 and 103/2026 at Police Station Shopian and started investigations,” the spokesperson said.
In Pulwama, the spokesperson said police teams during patrols in the areas of Nallah Rambi Ara and adjoining locations seized three dumpers, one tipper and three JCB machines allegedly involved in illegal mining activities. “The spokesperson said FIR Nos. 70/2026, 71/2026 and 86/2026 were registered and further investigation is underway,” he said.
