UDHAMPUR, June 2: Jal Shakti PHE Employees and Worker Association has alleged that Daily Rated Workers (DRWs) are suffering due to anti-worker policy of the Government.
Addressing a press conference after monthly meeting held here today, senior Trade Union leader and district president of the Association Som Nath alleged that Government was deliberately delaying regularization of the daily rated workers in the Jammu and Kashmir despite promise on the floor of the Assembly House.
He said the Govt committed so many times but decision was not implemented till date. The Government is befooling the daily wagers, who are living in bad condition due to previous and present Govts. They have failed in solving the issue of daily wagers, moreover, the six years’ pending wages of Jal Shakti (PHE) daily wagers have remained unpaid. All the ruling and opposition MLA’s are totally silent on the issues of the daily wagers. He said wages of the daily wagers are released on 4th of every month but the wages come to their account after 20th of every month which is great injustice.
Som Nath demanded that CP/ITI/ land case workers who have completed seven years of service as per SRO-64 should be regularized without further delay. He also demanded release of pending wages of the daily rated workers pending for the last 65-70 months.
The Trade Union leader further demanded that Minimum Wages Act should be implemented in the J&K UT. He said the UT of Ladakh has already implemented the same and announced hike in the wages of the DRWs.
He alleged that there was acute shortage of staff in the PHE department. No new recruitment has taken place but many new stations have come up. He demanded that all the vacant posts be filled up shortly. The private workers are running the water supply at many places. The JJM schemes will not run without workers. He demanded facilities for the workers in the pumping / water stations.
Senior members present on the occasion included- Suraj Parkash, Dinesh Kesar, Makhan Chand, Karan Singh, Shambu Nath and others.
