JAMMU, May 30: The J&K unit of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has launched a campaign ‘Spend a Day in Jammu’ and has also unveiled a special poster urging pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Yatra and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine to spend at least one day exploring Jammu’s rich heritage, culture and tourist spots.
Speaking on the occasion, Shiv Sena J&K chief, Manish Sahni said that Jammu should be promoted not merely as a transit point but as a major religious, cultural and tourist destination.
He said that lakhs of pilgrims visit J&K every year but most of them return without exploring Jammu city’s historical, religious and tourist landmarks.
“If pilgrims dedicate even one day of their journey to Jammu, it would provide them an opportunity to experience the region’s rich Dogra culture and heritage and it will also boost the local tourism and trade,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained.
He said that under the campaign, the posters will be distributed among the pilgrims during Amarnath Yatra and the same will also be displayed at major public places like railway stations, bus stands etc for awareness about Jammu’s key tourist attractions.
A Shiv Sena delegation also submitted the poster to Director of Tourism and demanded a free bus service for the visiting pilgrims to major religious and tourist sites in Jammu.
Vikas Bakshi, Sanjeev Kohli, Sanjay Bhatt and Jasbir Singh were present on the occasion.
