KATHUA, May 30: BJP senior leader and party’s Seh-Prabhari of Kathua, Sanjay Kumar Baru along with BJP district President, Updesh Andotra, paid floral tributes to the BJP’s founder member and former State president of Jan Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party, Thakur Baldev Singh, on the occasion of his birth anniversary in the presence of Dharamvir Singh (son of Th Baldev Singh), district general secretaries, Ravinder Sharma, Rajesh Mehta, Gagan Singh and other senior leaders from district.
Sanjay Baru, while paying tributes to the great personality, recalled Thakur Baldev Singh’s life and his unparalleled contribution to national service. He said that from the very beginning, Thakur Baldev Singh was inspired by a nationalist ideology. He said that after he completed his studies, he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and remained actively engaged in activities dedicated to the national interest throughout his life.
Thakur Baldev Singh played an active role in the Praja Parishad movement and was imprisoned several times during various agitations. Together with Pandit Premnath Dogra, he spearheaded numerous struggles to uphold the rights of Jammu and Kashmir and to serve the public interest. He also accompanied Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookerjee during his entry into Jammu and Kashmir, said Baru, while adding that Baldev Singh shouldered key responsibilities within the organization and also served as the State president of the organization, and also served as Member of Parliament (MP).
Updesh Andotra, in her address, said that Baldev Singh became the country’s first-ever BJP Legislator to register a win using the Lotus election symbol. In 1987, he was once again elected as a Legislator, and through his dedicated public service, he carved a special place in the hearts of the people of the region. His life of struggle, patriotism, and dedication to public service continues to inspire society and activists to this day, she added.
At the conclusion of the programme, Dr Narinder Jasrotia, Ravinder Pathania, Anil Khajuria,Nigesh Kumar, Shingara Singh,Ashok Jasrotia, Dineshwer Singh, Suman Bala, Meera Jasrotia ,Asha Devi and others Party activists and dignitaries paid floral tributes to Thakur Baldev Singh and resolved to follow the path he had shown.
