J&K filmmaker Tariq Khan’s ‘Bombay Story’ receives warm response at Cannes

JAMMU, May 30: Filmmaker Tariq Khan from Jammu and Kashmir has earned international recognition with the world premiere of his latest feature film Bombay Story at the Cannes Film Festival.
The film, featuring actor Mouni Roy in a lead role, received an enthusiastic response from audiences and was screened before a packed theatre at the prestigious event.
Inspired by the works of renowned Urdu writer Saadat Hasan Manto, Bombay Story explores human emotions, social realities and the spirit of Mumbai.
The film also stars Anupria Goenka, Rahat Shah, Kasmi, Shoaib Nikash Shah and others.
Speaking after the screening, Khan said the film was an effort to carry forward Manto’s timeless legacy and present it to a global audience through cinema.
Originally from Jammu and Kashmir and now based in Mumbai, Khan is known for films such as Identity Card, Lihaaf – The Quilt and Side A Side B, which have received recognition at international film festivals.
The successful Cannes premiere of Bombay Story is expected to boost its prospects for wider theatrical release and international distribution.
