JAMMU, May 28: Emotional scenes were witnessed at Mehluwal village in the RS Pura area here after the body of a local youth, who allegedly died in UAE after being cheated by travel agents on the pretext of providing him a work visa for Georgia, reached his native place early this morning.

The deceased was identified as Ravi Kumar Bhagat, son of Sardari Lal, a resident of Mehluwal village.
Family members alleged that some agents from the Miran Sahib, RS Pura and Arnia areas had promised Ravi a work visa for Georgia but instead sent him to the UAE.
They further claimed that the agents repeatedly took money from the family in the name of arranging his travel and job abroad.
According to the family, Ravi was once illegally taken close to the Georgia border by the agents but was deported back to the UAE by authorities of a neighbouring country.
Despite this, the agents allegedly continued demanding money from the family for further travel arrangements without fulfilling their promises.
The grieving family alleged that constant harassment and financial pressure pushed Ravi into severe mental stress.
They claimed he later suffered a brain haemorrhage and subsequently died of a heart attack at a hospital in Dubai.
The father of the deceased youth, Sardari Lal alleged that the family had paid nearly Rs 7 lakh to the agents.
Family members also said that some other persons accompanying Ravi in Dubai helped in arranging medical treatment and later facilitated the transportation of his body to India. The family demanded justice and stern punishment for the agents.
The body reached Delhi around midnight and was brought to Jammu Airport this morning before being taken to the village for last rites.
Cremation was performed at Purmandal cremation ground this afternoon.
Police have taken cognisance of the matter and started investigation.
