SRINAGAR, May 28: A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Narinder Sharma, Constituency Incharge RS Pura Jammu South, today met PDP president Mehbooba Mufti at her residence at Srinagar and held an extensive discussion on a wide range of social, political and financial issues concerning the people of Jammu region.
The delegation comprised Vicky Dogra, Constituency Incharge Bishnah, Ashok Kumar, Zone president, along with senior party members Sudesh Kumar and Lalit Kumar Motan.
During the interaction, the leaders apprised Mehbooba Mufti about the hardships and challenges being faced by people at the grassroots level, especially in border and rural areas of the Jammu region.
They highlighted growing unemployment among educated youth and stressed the urgent need for employment-oriented policies, industrial growth and better opportunities for self-employment. The leaders said that a large section of youth is struggling due to lack of job opportunities and demanded focused initiatives for skill development, promotion of small-scale industries and support for startups and local businesses.
The PDP leaders also discussed the issue of inflation and rising prices of essential commodities, stating that common people, particularly daily wage earners, farmers, labourers and economically weaker families, are facing severe financial stress. They urged the Government to introduce relief measures for poor and middle-class families and ensure proper implementation of welfare schemes at the ground level.
During the meeting, special emphasis was laid on the development of border belts, rural infrastructure, healthcare facilities, road connectivity, drinking water supply and power distribution in several areas of Jammu province. The delegation expressed concern over inadequate civic amenities in many villages and called for equitable development of all regions without discrimination.
The leaders further discussed issues related to farmers and small traders, stating that both sectors require greater financial assistance and policy support.
Talking to delegation, Mehbooba Mufti appreciated the party workers for remaining actively connected with the public and understanding their day-to-day concerns. She assured the delegation that PDP would continue to work tirelessly for the welfare, dignity and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
