Ex-Servicemen discuss issues

AKHNOOR, May 25: The monthly meeting of Ex-Servicemen Welfare Association Akhnoor was held here today under the chairmanship of Lakhbir Singh, Naval Veteran. Group Captain Sanjiv Gupta (retired) attended the meeting as a special guest.
During the meeting, the ex-servicemen were educated about various schemes and benefits meant for them and for Veer Naris, widows and pensioners.
Issue of construction of Sainik House in Akhnoor was discussed during the meeting and the members resolved to strengthen the outreach for pension, CSD and ECHS.
Ex-Servicemen Rameshwar Dutt addressed the gathering.
Subedar Vinod Kumar (retired) of Palanwalla raised the issue against the Revenue Department for constructing a cow shed adjoining to his house.
Jagdev Singh said that Girdawari and mutation of custodian land is not done without greasing the palms of the officials.
Banarasi Dass said that PHE pipes in rural areas are not properly laid and get unearthed when the tractor runs over the fields.
Captain Bachan Lal (retired) raised the issue of low voltage in Akhnoor area.
Krishan Singh said that electricity bill has not been delivered at his home since the last year.
Sanjiv Gupta suggested that it was the time for the ex-servicemen to get united.
The meeting was conducted by Kaka Ram, general secretary and Romesh Chander delivered vote of thanks.
