JAMMU, May 18: The Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE) of Crime Branch Jammu has recovered Rs 11 lakh in an online investment fraud case involving a senior citizen.
Officials said the action was taken after a complaint was received through the 1930 Cyber Helpline.
They said during the investigation, the enquiry officer traced the digital transaction trail and coordinated with banks and payment gateways, leading to the successful recovery of the defrauded amount, which has been credited back to the victim’s account.
The recovery operation was carried out by Inspector Arun Salathia under the supervision of DySP Albeena Malik, SHO CICE Jammu.
Meanwhile, in a statement, CICE advised people to remain alert against fake online investment schemes and urged citizens to immediately report cyber frauds through the 1930 Cyber Helpline or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
