Deoria, May 18: After a video went viral showing him riding a motorcycle without a helmet, BJP MLA from Deoria, Shalabh Mani Tripathi, has appealed to the police to levy a fine against him.
The MLA said that on Sunday evening, while having tea at his residence, a party worker urged him to “inaugurate” his new motorcycle by taking it for a ride.
“I could not turn down his request and rode the bike without a helmet — an act that is, strictly speaking, a violation of the rules,” Tripathi said.
The MLA later wrote a letter to the police administration, requesting that appropriate action be taken and a fine be issued against him.
He also appealed to the public to adhere to traffic regulations and always wear helmets. (PTI)
