JAMMU, May 17: The historic Mandir Laxmi Narayan Ji Maharaj (Dewan Mandir), a cornerstone of Jammu’s spiritual and cultural landscape, has launched a historic initiative to mark the auspicious period of Purshottam Maas. In a first-of-its-kind event for the temple, daily recitations of the Vishnu Sahasranama Stotra have commenced in the temple premises.
Constructed in 1867 by Dewan Jawala Sahai-the Prime Minister to Maharaja Gulab Singh and later Maharaja Ranbir Singh-the ancient temple is fast reclaiming its pristine glory as a crown jewel of the City of Temples.
Purshottam Maas holds profound significance in Sanatan Dharma. This holy 33-day period is dedicated to earnest devotion, spiritual salvation, and earning divine blessings through special prayers and offerings.
Aligning with these glorious traditions, the daily Sahasranama Stotra Path is being melodiously rendered by the young batuks (students) of the renowned Vedic Panjvaktar Mahadev Pathshalla. Devotees are actively joining the budding scholars in these chants, creating a powerful atmosphere of collective prayer and peace.
Suresh Kumar Sharma, Commissioner-cum-Receiver of the Mandir, extended a warm invitation to the public at large to be a part of this landmark spiritual gathering.
“We appeal to devotees from all walks of life to participate in these special morning prayers during this holy Purshottam Maas,” said Sharma. “Come, celebrate the divine, immerse yourselves in the sacred vibrations of the temple, and seek the eternal blessings of Laxmi Narayan Ji Maharaj,” he added.
