Two held with over 60-gm heroin-like substance in Samba, Udhampur

JAMMU, May 16: Two alleged drug peddlers were arrested with over 60 grams of heroin-like substance in Samba and Udhampur districts today, officials said.
One Mam Hussain of Rakh Barotian, tehsil Vijaypur, district Samba, was arrested with over 27.54 grams of heroin-like substance during routine naka checking at Tarapur road under the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur in Samba district, they said. He was accordingly booked in case FIR number 85/2026 under sections 8/21/22/25 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Vijaypur.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in Udhampur district, an inter-state drug peddler was arrested with 33 grams of heroin in backward linkage of a case FIR number 09/2026 under sections 8/21/22/27(A)/29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Majalta.
The accused individual has been identified as Sadiq Ali alias Sarmu of Bassa Choka, Himachal Pradesh, at present Jugial, Pathankot.
Officials said further investigation in both the cases is underway.
