KATHUA, May 16: Lakhanpur police recovered approximately 1.180 Kgs of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) in its jurisdictional area, arrested two persons and seized the truck on the spot in which the consignment was being smuggled.
Police said today a reliable information was received at Police Station, Lakhanpur that one person namely Sajad Ahmed, son of Sadiq Ahmed of Housing Colony Udhampur is involved in illegal smuggling of narcotic substance (Poppy straw) in truck No JK08E/4975 and coming from Pathankot towards Jammu. In this connection, a case FIR NO 50/2026 U/S 8/15 NDPS ACT has been registered at PS Lakhanpur and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, the police team led by SHO PS, Lakhanpur recovered 1.180 kgs poppy straw like substance from the truck. The driver along with his associate Farooq Ahmed, son of Sultan Ali of Ward No. 5 Chack Sajjan Kathua was arrested. Thereafter all the recovered narcotics was seized.
