HYDERABAD, Oct 2: ‘If we can convert millions of tonnes of waste in the country into useful tangible products by affordable technological means, there is a huge scope for development; rapid advances in technologies provide ample opportunities for bringing in innovations in waste management’, says Dr Avinash Chander, Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri, Secretary, Department of Defence R and D and Director General. Speaking on occasion of launching Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan in DRDO here, Dr Avinash said, ‘Every individual in the country is morally bound to contribute towards clean, healthy environment and ecosystem.
‘I am sure that the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan initiated towards cleanliness will transform the outlook of the Nation’, he said. Later, he led a cleanliness drive in the areas surrounding the campus.
Dr V.G. Sekaran, Distinguished Scientist and Director General, Missiles and Strategic Systems and Dr Tessy Thomas, Director, Advanced Systems Laboratory also spoke emphasizing upon the importance of cleanliness.
On the occasion of launch of ‘National Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’, oath was administered at the DRDO headquarters, New Delhi and also at various laboratories and establishments of DRDO across India with the participation of DRDO fraternity. (UNI)
