POJK Visthapit Seva Samiti seeks ST status, domicile relief

JAMMU, May 10: A meeting of the regional team of POJK Visthapit Seva Samiti was held today at the Samiti office located at Ved Mandir Complex, Amphalla.
The meeting focused on reviewing and assessing the work carried out by the Samiti in the recent past. President of the Samiti, Dr Deepak Kapoor, briefed members about letters addressed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir Manoj Sinha regarding grant of Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to all POJK displaced persons residing in districts including Poonch, Rajouri and Kupwara.
The follow-up mechanism in this regard was also discussed in detail during the meeting. Members were further apprised of the letter addressed to Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, concerning the memorandum already submitted to authorities, requesting extension of the deadline for issuance of domicile certificates to POJK displaced persons settled outside J&K.
General secretary of the Samiti, Arun Choudhary, emphasized the urgent need to expedite the process of granting ST status to POJK displaced persons, saying the community has been enduring hardships of displacement since 1947.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Amrik Singh, Preeti Choudhary, Veena Khanna, Devinder, Shubham, Naresh Vohra, RC Gupta, Jagdev Singh, Ashok Khajuria and other members of the Samiti.
