JAMMU, May 8: The Cyber Crime Investigation Centre for Excellence (CICE), Crime Branch Jammu, has recovered Rs 3 lakh lost by a senior citizen in an online investment fraud case.
Officials said the recovery was made after a complaint was received through the 1930 Cyber Helpline regarding an online investment scam.
Acting swiftly, the enquiry officer traced the digital transaction trail and coordinated with banks and payment gateways, leading to the successful recovery of the defrauded amount.
The recovered money has been credited back to the victim’s bank account, officials said.
The recovery operation was carried out by DySP Monika Thakur of CICE, Crime Branch Jammu.
Meanwhile, the Crime Branch advised people to remain cautious against fake online investment schemes and cyber frauds.
Citizens were urged to immediately report such incidents through the 1930 Cyber Helpline or the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
