KISHTWAR, May 8: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar Pankaj Kumar Sharma today disbursed Rs. 5 lakh as compensation under the J&K Road Accident Victim Fund, based on the cases submitted by Assistant Road Transport Officer (ARTO).
An amount of Rs. 1 lakh each was disbursed among the legal heirs of four persons died in road accidents, while Rs 50 thousand each was provided to two grievously injured persons.
The families who received compensation included Makhni Begum, W/o Salu Gujjar, R/o Sranwan Thakraie (case of Ab Majeed); Asha Devi, W/o Late Mast Ram, R/o Pallali Paddar (case of Mast Ram); Hajera Begum, W/o Ali Mohammad Zargar, R/o Sarthal Karool (case of Shagufta Ara); Gh. Hussain, S/o Mohommad Akbar, R/o Patnazi Bunjwah (case of Saif Ali); Sohail Bashir, S/o Bashir Ahmed Mattoo, R/o Mulchhiter and Shamima Akhtar Banoo, D/o Akhtar Hussain, R/o Patnazi Bunjwah.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s resolve to ensure prompt assistance to road accident victims and their families under welfare schemes meant for public support and relief.
