KULGAM, May 8: In a major action under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan Jammu & Kashmir, Kulgam Police, in coordination with the Revenue authorities, on Thursday retrieved Kahcharai land worth approximately ₹60 lakh from the unauthorized occupation of alleged drug peddlers in Kund area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Officials said the joint operation was carried out at village Oriel falling under the jurisdiction of Police Station Kund, where a total of 06 kanals of Kahcharai land was retrieved.
According to details, 01 kanal of land under Survey No. 182 Min was found under the unauthorized occupation of alleged drug peddler Gulam Nabi Bhat, son-in-law of Fateh Mohammad Bhat. Another 03 kanals under Survey No. 142 was under the alleged illegal occupation of drug peddler Gulam Nabi Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat.
Besides, 02 kanals of land under Survey No. 142 Min was also retrieved from persons belonging to village Oriel Kund who are allegedly involved in FIR No. 15/2025 registered under Sections 8/18 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kund.
Police said the retrieved land carries an estimated market value of nearly ₹60 lakh.
The action was jointly executed by Kulgam Police and Revenue officials as part of sustained efforts to dismantle the illegal infrastructure and financial networks linked with drug peddling in the district.
Police reiterated their commitment towards eradicating the drug menace and warned that strict action will continue against those involved in narcotics-related activities.(KNC)
