KATHUA, May 6: Member Legislative Assembly, Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan today provided financial help to August 2025 floods affected families of the constituency.
The help was provided during the course of Public Darbar cum Grievances Redressal Camp organized in village Dilwan of Kathua constituency in which District Development Commissioner, Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Vishavjeet, District and other sectoral officers were present.
During the Public Darbar, people of Dilwan, Parala, Rakhay, Chinkai, Chanota, Maroli, Bijjit, Jamalpur and other villagers raised issues of scarcity of drinking water and stressed for permanent restoration of roads and water supply schemes.
MLA Kathua and District Development Commissioner apprised that temporary restoration of damaged infrastructure has been done and permanent restoration will be taken shortly.
MLA directed Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Department to provide drinking water to Dilwan Panchayat through Tanker till schemes are restored permanently.
Later MLA handed over sanction letter to ten beneficiaries of floods affected villagers whose houses were fully damaged. The funds to the tune of one lakh per affected family were provided. Besides, ten families of partially damaged houses were given financial help to the tune of fifty thousand per family. Total funds to the tune of Rupees fifteen lakh were given to affected families to rebuild houses.
Earlier these identified families were assisted under SDRF and Chief Minister, Relief fund.
Former Sarpanches, Dilawar Singh, Uttam Singh, Captain (retd), Pawan Sharma and others appreciated MLA for reaching out to floods affected people during floods and thereafter too.
