Srinagar, May 5: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached immovable property worth approximately ₹1.20 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler as part of the ongoing 100 Days Campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
Acting under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, Police Station Nowhatta carried out the attachment in connection with FIR No. 61/2019 registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
The attached assets include a fully renovated three-storey residential house, a separate single-storey concrete kitchen block equipped with three washrooms, and land measuring 09 marlas.
The property belongs to Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Habibullah Sheikh, a resident of Kani Dewar, Sheikh Mohallah, Hawal in Srinagar.
Police investigations revealed that the said property was acquired through proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Following due legal process, the assets have been identified as illegally acquired and attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act.
This decisive action underscores Srinagar Police’s unwavering commitment to dismantling the financial infrastructure of drug networks and eradicating the menace of narcotics from society. Authorities have reiterated their resolve to intensify operations against drug peddlers and urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug abuse or trafficking. (KNC)
