JAMMU, May 4: A Bone Mineral Density (BMD) camp was organized here today at Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission (SVMM) Charitable Hospital, Ambphalla in collaboration with Sun Pharma (Pantocid Division).
About 76 patients, along with their attendants, management members and the hospital staff, benefited from the initiative aimed at early detection of osteoporosis and related bone disorders.
The screening was conducted by a technical expert from Delhi.
A handout stated that the BMD test, which costs about Rs. 1200 in market, was provided free of cost during the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajesh Gandotra, Senior Orthopaedic Consultant emphasized that early diagnosis through BMD screening is vital in preventing long-term complications and fractures.
Dr. Sham Jurangal, Senior Orthopaedic Surgeon also spoke on the occasion.
The event was graced by Amar Chand Gupta, president, SVMM, who lauded the initiative and reiterated the organization’s commitment to selfless service.
B.S Jamwal, general secretary, SVMM, B.B Gupta, senior vice president, Dr. Sachin Gupta, treasurer and Dr. Yash Pal Karsayal, Assistant Medical Superintendent SVMM Charitable Hospital were also present in the camp while representatives from Sun Pharma (Pantocid Division), Varun Sudan and Area Manager along with his team, coordinated and supported the smooth execution of the camp.
Dr. Arvind Kohli, Medical Director SVMM and Dr. Rabinder Rattan Pal, Medical Superintendent SVMM commended the dedicated efforts of the medical and paramedical teams in ensuring the successful conduct of the camp.
