4 drug peddlers held

SRINAGAR, May 2: Police today arrested four drug peddlers in separate operations in Baramulla and Handwara districts and also apprehending a second accused in a major narcotics case in Anantnag.
In Baramulla, three persons were arrested during checkpoint operations.
At Nowpora, Police intercepted an auto-rickshaw (JK05P-4047) and recovered about 42 grams of a charas-like substance from the driver, identified as Nasir Ahmad Dar of Shalteng Sheeri.
In another operation at the same location, a vehicle (Mahindra Thar, JK01AX-2828) was stopped by a cops from Wagoora.
A search led to the recovery of about 56 grams of a charas-like substance from two occupants, identified as Faizan Farooq Rather of Wagoora and Mohd Yaseen Khanday of Warpora Tangmarg.
In Handwara, a Police team from Zachaldara post intercepted a suspect at Sultanpora crossing and recovered a quantity of Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus capsules from his possession.
The accused was identified as Mudasir Ahmad Dar of Badkoot.
All four accused have been arrested and cases have been registered under relevant sections of law at the respective Police Stations. Further investigation was underway, officials said.
Meanwhile, in Anantnag, Police arrested a second accused in connection with a 110 kg narcotics seizure case registered earlier this year at Srigufwara Police Station.
The accused, identified as Abdul Rashid Bhat of Shitipora, was apprehended during a checkpoint operation at Shalgam crossing.
