JAMMU, Apr 23: The J&K unit of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has expressed deep concern over the slow pace, poor execution and lack of accountability in the ongoing Smart City Project works in Jammu, particularly in the Talab Tillo area.
It has been observed that several development works, initiated under the Smart City Project, remain incomplete even after years of commencement. Critical infrastructure such as drainage systems, footpaths, and road improvements are either unfinished or executed in a haphazard manner, causing serious inconvenience to the public.
Reports from the ground indicate that open drains, incomplete slab work, and poorly managed construction sites pose a constant threat to pedestrians. Incidents of people falling into uncovered drains have become a matter of grave concern. Additionally, electricity poles standing in the middle of roads and improper installation of streetlight infrastructure highlight serious lapses in planning and execution.
Despite substantial financial allocations for the project, the visible outcomes remain unsatisfactory. The public is facing daily hardships, including unsafe roads, traffic disruptions, and risk to life and property.
The BSP strongly urged the concerned authorities to take immediate corrective measures, ensure timely completion of all pending works, and fix responsibility for the delays and negligence.
