According to investigators, both individuals are already under a lookout circular, restricting their international movement. Agencies are tightening the net to bring them into custody at the earliest.
The case is linked to a terror module recently exposed by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Of the three accused who were abroad, one-Majul, who had been residing in South Africa-was arrested at Delhi airport upon his arrival in India on Saturday.
Officials revealed that the module maintained connections with handlers based in Pakistan through social media platforms. Several suspicious accounts, including “King Devil 315” and “Royal Soakib,” have come under scrutiny. These accounts allegedly contained reconnaissance-related chats, audio files, and shared locations via Google Maps.
The ATS has sought detailed information from Meta to identify the operators of these accounts, including their real identities and linked mobile numbers.
Meanwhile, investigators have questioned multiple relatives and associates of Aqib and Azad, gathering key intelligence. Preliminary findings suggest that Aqib had been active on social media for nearly four years and was involved in anti-national activities.
Authorities have also interrogated individuals whose bank accounts received funds linked to the suspects. Sources indicate that Pakistani handlers transferred between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh to support the module’s operations.
Further arrests are expected as the investigation progresses and more suspects are identified. (UNI)
