JAMMU, Apr 19: One individual was arrested with around 8 grams of heroin-like substance from Upper Roop Nagar area of the Jammu district today.
A police official said that during routine foot patrolling, a team of Police Station Janipur, led by SHO concerned, Inspector Vikram Sharma, noticed a suspicious vehicle (JK02DR-1772) approaching the main road from Upper Roop Nagar area.
He said on spotting the police party, the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee, but was swiftly chased and overpowered.
During personal search of the suspicious individual, later identified as Rahul Badyal of House number 36, Panjtirthi, at present House Number 24, Choudhary Lane, Roop Nagar, Jammu, around 6-8 grams of the heroin-like substance was recovered, the police official said.
Accordingly, he said, the accused individual was taken into custody and booked in case FIR number 46/2026 under sections 8/21/22/60 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Janipura, with further investigation set into motion.
