JAMMU, Apr 18: The District administration today demolished two alleged drug peddlers’ properties at Nikki Tawi area worth several crores.
The properties belonging to one Shamp Din alias Pappi of Biaspur Parlah, Suchetgarh, RS Pura, and another individual, Abdul Hamid alias Midhu of Maralian, Miran Sahib area, were allegedly constructed on State land using the proceeds of the narcotics trade.
Officials said one of the drives began around 9:45 AM at Nikki Tawi, Karnaley Chak area under the jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari with the presence of a large contingent of officials and police personnel, armed with heavy-duty bulldozers to demolish one residential house belonging to Shamp Din.
Several grass huts established within the property were also removed during the operation, they said, adding that some two-wheelers were also seized.
The action was taken as part of the 100-day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan launched by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha on April 11 to curb drug trafficking and dismantle the financial networks of those involved in it, officials said.
“A property belonging to one Shamp Din of Biaspur Parlah, Suchetgarh, RS Pura area, has been demolished at Nikki Tawi area after a proper verification confirmed his involvement in drug trade,” Tehsildar Jammu Khas, Paramdeep Singh, told reporters.
According to him, the value of the demolished property is around Rs 1.5-2 Crores.
Meanwhile, in another operation at the same area, another property worth crores and belonging to one Abdul Hamid alias Midhu of Maralian, Miran Sahib was demolished.
According to officials, properties of more than 150 drug peddlers have either been seized or demolished in the Jammu region in the past year.
