Indian community in Moscow  pays warm tributes to Asha Bhosle

MOSCOW, Apr 13:  The Indian community based in Russia on Monday expressed great shock at the demise of legendary singer Asha Bhosle and paid warm tributes to her while remembering her “immortal music”.
The 92-year-old singer, who ruled Bollywood music for over eight decades, died on Sunday due to multi-organ failure. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai on Saturday evening following a chest infection and exhaustion.
“This is a great shock to all of us, it is the end of an era. Asha ji left for heavenly abode on the day the Russians were celebrating Orthodox Easter as the symbol of victory of eternal life over death, she will forever live among us due to her immortal music, ” President of Hindustani Samaj-Russia, Kashmir Singh said.
“Asha Bhosle Ji, was one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever known,” Rameshwar Singh, President of  Indo-Russian Friendship Society “Disha” said.
“Her extraordinary musical journey, spanning decades, enriched our cultural heritage and touched countless hearts across the world. Be it her soulful melodies or vibrant compositions, her voice carried timeless brilliance. I will always cherish the interactions I had with her”, he added.
“End of the era of two sisters. Asha tai’s songs make her immortal,” a member of the Moscow-based Hindustani Samaj Santosh Mishra posted on social media.
Bhosle recorded over 12,000 songs across 20 languages in her career spanning eight decades. She was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
She has sung for several films featuring Bachchan, including tracks such as “Yeh Mera Dil” in 1978 film “Don”, “Main Na Jhooth Boloon” in “Indrajeet” and “Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani” in “The Great Gambler”.
Her last rites will be performed at Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Monday afternoon with state honours. (PTI)
