KATHUA, Apr 11: Continuing its efforts to discourage the trade and transportation of illicit liquor, J&K Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Mohita Sharma arrested one bootlegger and recovered 52 Quarters of JK Excise Whisky 180 ml each from his possession at Chann-Rorrian area of PS Rajbagh.
Police said on Friday a team led by SHO PS Rajbagh Inspector, Sushil Sharma under the supervision of SP Operations, Kathua, Brijesh Sharma and SDPO Border, Dheeraj Katoch during naka/ checking in its jurisdictional area at Channrorrian apprehended one person namely Angrez Singh, son of Munshi Ram R/o Ladoli Tehsil Dinga Amb district, Kathua enrouted towards Channrorian under suspicious circumstances. During checking 52 quarters of JK Excise Whisky 180 ml each recovered from his possession.
In this regard a case FIR No 85/2026 U/S 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Rajbagh, police said.
SSP Kathua Ms. Mohita Sharma- said that strict action will be taken against anyone caught involved in illegal trade/transportation of illicit liquor.
