JAMMU, Apr 10: A delegation of Yuva Rajput Sabha (YRS) led by its president, Mandeep Singh Rimpy here today met Rubina Kousar, Director General (DG) Libraries at Shri Ranbir Singh Library, Kachi Chawni.
The delegation demanded installation of Dogra Maharaja Ranbir Singh’s plaque outside the library highlighting his historic contributions and naming a dedicated study hall inside the library after Maharaja Ranbir Singh with details of his contributions to education and literature.
Other demands raised on this occasion were restoring the proper name of the institution as ‘Shri Maharaja Ranbir Singh Library’ instead of ‘Shri Ranbir Singh Library’.
The demand of displaying portraits of Dogra Maharaja Ranbir Singh in all the offices of Libraries Department was also raised.
On this occasion, Mandeep Singh said that Maharaja Ranbir Singh was a visionary Dogra ruler who established this library and gave Jammu a rich legacy of learning.
Former YRS presidents, Rajan Singh and Vikram Singh Chib also spoke on this occasion along with chief spokesman, Vishal Singh.
The delegation urged the DG Libraries to take early action on these demands in the public interest.
YRS senior vice president, Avtar Singh, general secretary, Bhanu Pratap Singh, vice president, Thakur Sumit Singh, urban president, Vishav Pratap Singh and vice president urban, Munish Singh were also present in the delegation.
