An Army official said a tragedy was averted as the 14.3 kgs IED was “apparently meant to target security forces’ vehicles”.
He said that the device was found along the Zainapora-Chitargam road in the south Kashmir district early this morning during routine sanitisation operations.
He said the object was found to be a powerful IED during examination. A bomb disposal squad was called to the site and the IED was neutralised.
