JAMMU, Apr 5: A free orthopedic medical camp was successfully organized by the Retired Officers Forum at the Scouts and Guide Hall in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, providing much-needed healthcare services to elderly citizens.
The camp, conducted under the supervision of the Forum’s executive committee, headed by its President, S C Rekhi, was inaugurated by Dr R D Sharma, former Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, in the presence of several distinguished members and retired officials, including K S Samyal, Ashok Gupta, V K Abrol, S K Jain and P C Gupta.
Highlighting the objective of the initiative, S C Rekhi emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups for retirees, especially in their later years, to ensure active and healthy living. He noted that since its inception in 1999, the Forum has organized 123 such camps covering diverse health and wellness areas such as orthopedics, heart care, ENT, general medicine, yoga, spirituality, and issues related to senior citizens.
During the camp, Dr Kanav Padha, an Orthopedic specialist, delivered an informative session on bone-related ailments and their timely treatment. Participants actively engaged with the expert, seeking clarification on various health concerns.
A major highlight of the camp was the free “Bone Density Test” conducted for all participants. The test, which typically costs between Rs 1200 and Rs 1300 in the market, was provided free of cost, benefiting around 70 to 80 retirees and senior citizens.
General Secretary of the Forum, S K Jain, coordinated the proceedings. Several prominent individuals, including Prem Gupta, Harbhajan Singh, Lilita Sharma, and Pramod Kumar Jain, were present on the occasion.
