Darshan Rana raises concerns over power sector irregularities

JAMMU, Apr 3: President of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Jammu & Kashmir, Darshan Rana has voiced serious concern over alleged irregularities in the power sector, calling it unjust to common consumers.
He said that despite long-standing agreements, the Union Territory has not received its rightful share of electricity, while promises of compensation and jobs for affected communities remain unfulfilled. Rana also criticized the “double standard” in revenue recovery.
Rana alleged that ordinary consumers are being issued amnesty notices and threatened with disconnections, whereas large establishments and Government departments with outstanding dues face no strict action.
Highlighting the need for fairness, he urged the Government to adopt a transparent and people-centric approach. He called for a simplified electricity billing policy, provision of installment-based payments, and targeted relief for economically weaker sections.
