KATHMANDU, Apr 2: Nepal’s national flag carrier will operate special flights for three days starting Friday to bring back its nationals stranded in the Gulf countries due to the ongoing war in the region.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a Nepal Airlines flight will depart for Dubai on Friday at 23:15 (local time) and return to Kathmandu early Saturday.
On the morning of April 5, a flight will leave for Dammam in Saudi Arabia and return to Kathmandu at noon on the same day.
The decision was taken following a meeting on Tuesday attended by senior officials from the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), and Nepal Airlines.
During the meeting, deliberations were made on measures to facilitate the travel needs of Nepali nationals in the Gulf region and to ensure the continuity of essential air connectivity.
The regular flights on these sectors had remained suspended since February 28 due to the ongoing war and security situation in the Gulf region. (PTI)
