JAMMU, Apr 2: MLA Jammu East Yudhvir Sethi today raised several pressing public issues concerning Jammu during the Zero Hour in the Legislative Assembly, urging the Government to provide immediate relief to the general public, particularly flood victim.
Participating in the proceedings, Sethi called upon the Government to take concrete steps to address the hardships faced by residents, particularly those affected by recent heavy rains and flooding.
“People of Jammu are facing immense difficulties due to recent floods and infrastructure gaps. The Government must act swiftly to provide relief and ensure that no affected family is left unattended,” he said and specifically demanded the immediate release of funds to the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) for rehabilitation and assistance to flood-affected residents in Jammu.
Highlighting the plight of traders, Sethi also urged the Government to establish a proper Godown facility at Ware House Market to safeguard goods from damage caused by rain and waterlogging. “Traders have suffered heavy losses as their goods were damaged due to lack of proper storage infrastructure. A dedicated facility at Ware House is the need of the hour,” he added.
Raising concerns about infrastructure in educational institutions, Sethi pointed out deficiencies at Government Degree College Sidhra. He stressed the need for improved road connectivity and rectification of existing faults to ensure better access and facilities for students.
“Students should not suffer due to poor connectivity and infrastructure gaps. Immediate attention is required to upgrade facilities at GDC Sidhra,” he said.
