JAMMU, Apr 1: The Department of Home Science (Human Development), University of Jammu, organized a workshop on “Building Resilient Families in a Changing World: Role of Marital & Family Counselling” here today.
The workshop was conducted by renowned counsellor, Dr Chand Trehan, who served as the resource person. Drawing upon her extensive experience in the field of counselling, Dr Trehan shared valuable insights into strengthening family systems, enhancing marital relationships, and coping with contemporary challenges affecting families.
The workshop aimed to train students and research scholars in practical strategies for fostering resilience within families, promoting emotional well-being, and improving interpersonal relationships. The interactive nature of the session encouraged active participation, enabling participants to gain hands-on exposure to counselling techniques and approaches.
Speaking on the occasion, the Head of the Department, Prof Sarika Manhas, emphasized the growing need for family counseling in today’s rapidly changing socio-cultural environment. She highlighted the importance of such initiatives in bridging academic knowledge with real-life applications, particularly in strengthening family dynamics and promoting mental health.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and research scholars, reflecting a keen interest in understanding the evolving nature of family relationships and developing competencies in professional counseling.
