JAMMU, Apr 1: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed to have arrested 4 inter-state narcotics smugglers and recovered around 10 kilograms of high-quality charas worth over Rs 30 lakh from their possession.
Acting on specific inputs about movement of a drug consignment, a team of ANTF laid a naka at a strategic location and intercepted a suspicious vehicle.
During checking, the contraband was recovered from their possession, following which all the accused were taken into custody, he said.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Amar Chand, a resident of Ramban district, Sachin Verma and Vijay Verma, both residents of Gonda district in Uttar Pradesh, and Aakash Verma, a resident of Surat in Gujarat.
Quoting preliminary investigation, the ANTF official said the accused were part of an inter-state drug syndicate, with the consignment reportedly sourced from Ramban and meant for supply in Mumbai.
According to him, the accused have been booked in case FIR number 03/2026 registered under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station ANTF Jammu, and further investigation is underway to trace the other members of the network.
Pertinently, the entire operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP ANTF Jammu Anwar-ul-Haq and DySP Ravinder Singh Rakwal.
