UDHAMPUR, Mar 29: Police arrested two inter-district drug peddlers from Tikri and Chenani, who were carrying heroin.
A police team of PP Tikri while performing traffic checking duty, noticed one suspicious person coming on foot from Jammu side towards Udhampur. On seeing the police party, his movements appeared suspicious; following which he was intercepted for questioning.
During questioning, he disclosed his identity as Ishaq Ahmed, son of Shamas Ud Din of Bhroon Bijarni, Tehsil Bhagwah, District Doda. During his personal search, 5.16 grams of heroin wrapped in a transparent play pack was recovered from the front right pocket of his trousers.
The accused was arrested on the spot and the contraband was seized. In this connection, FIR No. 64/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rehambal and further investigation is underway.
Another inter district drug peddler was arrested during naka checking at Motor Shed, NHW Chenani. The accused travelling in a cab bearing registration number JK01AV-4082, which was on way from Udhampur towards Kashmir.
During checking of the vehicle, the passengers were searched and 6.02 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of the accused, who disclosed his identity as Mohd Suhail Lone, son of Wali Mohd Lone of Delina, Baramulla.
In this regard, FIR No. 50/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani.
