JAMMU, Mar 29: A woman undergoing treatment at an IVF facility here at Exchange Road area allegedly died due to medical negligence, prompting the registration of an FIR against two doctors.
A case FIR number 24/2026 under the relevant sections of the law has been registered against Dr Sapna Khullar and Dr Diksha at Police Station Pacca Danga on the complaint of one of the family members of the deceased woman, Ekta Gupta (30) wife of Shubham Gupta of Samba, a police official said.
He said the complainant has alleged that Ekta Gupta died due to improper treatment at the private IVF facility.
Quoting the complaint, the police official said that Gupta had been undergoing IVF treatment in Jalandhar, where she had successfully conceived.
However, following complications earlier this year, she was shifted to the Jammu-based facility for further care.
He said the complainant has alleged that after an abortion procedure in late January, doctors advised another IVF cycle without observing the medically recommended gap between two procedures.
However, the established treatment protocols were ignored, the police official said while quoting the complaint.
On the basis of the complaint, he further said that during an embryo implantation procedure in mid-March, proper monitoring was not ensured and there was a delay in providing oxygen support, which led to her condition deteriorating.
The patient was initially shifted to GMC Jammu and later taken to Ludhiana under LAMA provisions, where she died due to cardiac arrest, he said.
The police official said the complainant has also blamed the hospital authorities of not sharing timely information and attempting to withhold critical details about the patient’s condition.
Taking cognizance of the complaint, he said a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at police station Pacca Danga and further investigation has been started.
