JAMMU, Mar 28: A one day awareness workshop on ‘MOOCs and SWAYAM’ for the students organized by the MOOC/ SWAYAM committee under the patronage of Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal, GGM Science College, was held here today.
The workshop was presided over by Prof Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College whereas Dr K S Charak, Professor, Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu and Dr P S Manhas, HOD Physics, GGM Science College was the Resource persons.
The formal welcome address to the august gathering was presented by Dr Pawan Kumar, Convener of MOOC/ SWAYAM committee while highlighting the significance and objectives of the workshop.
Later on Prof (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta underscored the importance of integrating MOOCs into conventional teaching–learning processes to promote blended learning, flexibility, and outcome-based education aligned with the objectives of the NEP-2020.
The academic proceeding commenced with an insightful lecture by the first resource person Dr K S Charak, who elaborated on the key aspects of the theme.
This was followed by an engaging session by Dr P S Manhas who delivered on Role of MOOCs in NEP (2020).
In his Lecture, Manhas effectively aligned the concept of MOOCs with the vision of National Education policy (NEP) 2020.
The third lecture was delivered by Dr Pawan Kumar, on MOOCs in Higher Education.
In his lecture, he highlighted the growing significance of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). He elaborated on how MOOCs provide flexible, accessible and cost –effective learning opportunities, enabling students to enhance their knowledge and skills beyond the traditional classroom.
The proceeding of the program was conducted by Prof Akanksha Parihar, Co-Convener of MOOC/ SWAYAM committee and whole proceeding was conducted under the supervision of Dr Vandana Khajuria, HOD English.
Towards the end, Dr Neha Sharma, HOD EVS gave formal vote of thanks.
Among those who attended the program included Prof Arjun Singh Rathore , Prof Asha Sharmhal, Prof Sanjay Kumar, Prof Rohit Bhardwaj, Prof Ram Krishan and Prof Devi Dass.
