DODA, Mar 27: The 118 Road Construction Company (RCC) of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) today successfully reopened the Bhaderwah-Bani-Basohli National Highway, which had remained closed following heavy snowfall at Chattergala Pass located in the mountainous foothills.
According to an official, recent intense snowfall in and around Chattergala Pass had severely disrupted connectivity between Bani in Kathua district and Bhaderwah in Doda district, causing inconvenience to the general public. Responding promptly, a dedicated team of 118 RCC/BRO, led by its Officer Commanding (OC), a Lieutenant Colonel, along with operators and CPLs, undertook a challenging snow clearance operation.
The official stated that the road axis was cleared and made traffic-worthy well within the stipulated timeframe of two months under the close guidance and supervision of the Commander, 35 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF), Udhampur. Despite facing continuous snowfall and harsh weather conditions, the team remained steadfast in its efforts to restore connectivity.
“Braving adverse weather and difficult terrain, the team ensured that adequate measures were taken to maintain road connectivity for the convenience and safety of the public,” the official added.

He further informed that alongside snow clearance operations, work on bridges and other permanent infrastructure projects along the highway is also progressing at a steady pace.
The Officer Commanding of 118 RCC/BRO reiterated that the swift restoration of the highway was aimed at ensuring uninterrupted movement of traffic, reflecting BRO’s commitment to maintaining vital connectivity and ensuring safety in remote and challenging regions within the shortest possible time.
The entire operation was carried out under the supervision of the Commander, 35 BRTF, Udhampur.
