JAMMU, Mar 27: A deputation of the Jammu Kashmir Petroleum Dealers Association led by its president, Rahul Gupta today called on the Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and submitted a memorandum to him.
The main issue projected during the meeting pertains to the regulation of the supply of HSD in jerry cans/ barrels by the people. They said there has been a growing concern regarding the sale of petroleum products in the unsafe and inappropriate containers at the fuel stations.
They said diesel is procured by all offices, Telecom companies, construction companies, Automobile companies show rooms etc for running of gen-sets in plastic cans/ barrels. Despite adherence to the guidelines, by dealers, customers frequently insist on filling fuel in bottles , plastic cans and other non-approved containers.
But when such requests are denied incompliance with the safety norms, it often results in arguments and occasionally aggressive behavior with the petrol pump staff / manager.
The Association also met the Territory Manager HPCL, Deepak Kumar regarding stocks of petrol and diesel in J&K. They informed that there are adequate stocks available at petrol pumps and there is no shortage of products from the oil companies.
They said a few retail outlets are shut due to financial problems/ other various reasons. The Association advised the `motoring public’ in maintaining calm and discipline.
