Two bovine smuggling bids foiled in Samba

SAMBA, Mar 23: With the arrest of two bovine smugglers in the jurisdictions of Police Stations Purmandal and Ghagwal, Police today claimed to have foiled two bovine smuggling bids in the Samba district by rescuing as many animals from their possession. A vehicle involved in the illegal transportation of the animals has also been seized.
A police official said that one animal being transported illegally by two smugglers by foot was rescued by a team of Police Station Purmandal from Purmandal Village.
Accordingly, the duo, identified as Sadam Hussain Bookad and Babar Hussain Bookad, both residents of Pooru, Adigam, District Anantnag, was arrested and booked in case FIR number 14/2026 under section 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act registered at Police Station Purmandal.
Meanwhile, another animal tied in a cruel manner inside an Alto car was rescued by a team of Police Post Rajpura from Madoon Village under the jurisdiction of Police Station Ghagwal.
While the vehicle involved in the illegal transportation of the animal has been seized, the smuggler(s) managed to escape from the spot.
Police have, however, registered a case FIR number 33/2026 under sections 281/223 BNS and 11 PCA Act at Police Station Ghagwal and started further investigation into the matter.
